Robert E. Isom, 81, of North Smithfield, RI passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Elmhurst Extended Care. He was born January 11, 1939, in Wilson, N.C., the son of Thomas H. Isom and Georgianna (Exum) Isom.

Robert graduated from Central High School, class of 1956. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army which included a tour in South Korea. After serving in the Army, he married longtime love, Jean Brown and settled in Providence, RI. They celebrated 58 years of marriage together. Robert was employed with the Rhode Island School of Design, as well as Roger Williams Hospital, until his retirement. He was an avid oil painter.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Michael E. Isom and Robert M. Isom. Surviving in addition to his wife, Jean (Brown) Isom, are his son, Keith M. Isom of Warwick, RI; daughters, Holli J. Lewis of Rumford, RI; Terri A. Meredith, of Sarasota, FL; Nicole D. Gomes of Providence, RI; ten grandchildren, Jason P. Enos, David A. Holliday-Isom, Riane L. Lewis, Stephani L. Lewis, Nicolas R. Gomes, Marlowe C. Meredith, Owen R. Meredith, Maya J. Meredith, Kyle D. Gibbons, Katie L. Goodrich; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sunday Isom of Elk Grove, California; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Due to restrictions on social gatherings as a result of the current pandemic, all services will be private.
